Bois-Franc is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.
Transportation
Bois-Franc will attract homeowners that use a variety of means of transportation. Home buyers who value living in an area that's walkable will enjoy the reasonably pedestrian-friendly character of this part of the city; many common errands can be run without needing to get in a vehicle. Bois-Franc is also fairly bike-friendly since there are a limited number of slopes to challenge cyclists, and the bicycling infrastructure is comprehensive. Owing to approximately 20 nearby bus lines, this area is rather transit friendly. Driving is also a reasonably good mode of transportation in this part of Montréal. It is a rather short car ride to the closest highway from anywhere in Bois-Franc, and it is convenient to come across a place to park.
Services
Schools and daycares are convenient to reach as a pedestrian from most properties for sale in Bois-Franc. Besides public schools, there are private primary and secondary schools. When it comes to food, it is easy to reach the nearest supermarket by foot in Bois-Franc. Furthermore, there is commonly a restaurant or cafe just around the corner, for instance on Boulevard Henri-Bourassa.
Character
Bois-Franc offers a relaxed ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. The greenery in this area is not especially prominent; to be more precise, residents will find that there are relatively few tree-lined streets. Nonetheless, the majority of locations in the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to parks, like Parc Noël-Sud and Parc de Louisbourg, since there are approximately 30 of them nearby for residents to check out. This part of Montréal is especially quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.
Housing
In Bois-Franc, about 40% of buildings are small apartment buildings, and the remaining homes are mainly large apartment buildings. This neighbourhood also has a good variety of housing sizes - it is quite easy to find houses ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 80% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the remainder are renters. A majority of the housing growth in this part of Montréal has taken place following the year 2000.
