Evergreen

Evergreen is a neighbourhood within Edmonton, Alberta, which is located in the Greater Edmonton metropolitan area.

Transportation

The preferred approach to get around in Evergreen is very often driving. Parking is easy. However, the public transit network in Evergreen is fairly poor. Thankfully, house owners benefit from a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Although the area is moderately flat, this neighbourhood is not very bike-friendly because the bicycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive. Getting around as a pedestrian is also not very practical for residents in this part of Edmonton since most daily needs are very inconvenient to carry out without a car.

Services

Evergreen does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Likewise, daycares are not plentiful and accordingly tend to require a very long distance to get to. Concerning eating, in vast majority cases, a vehicle is needed to do groceries. Nonetheless, pharmacies are typically especially easy to access on foot and provide some basic food items.

Character

The character of Evergreen is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. This part of the city is very quiet, as the streets are very calm. Finally, although this part of Edmonton is not home to any parks, parks are especially well-spread out in nearby neighbourhoods, which makes it easy to access them.

Housing

Around 45% of properties in Evergreen were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s. The predominance of mobile homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy around 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood while renters occupy the remainder. However this part of the city is particularly good for those looking for three bedroom homes.
