The community of Lonsdale can be found in the city of City of North Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Lonsdale offers homeowners several alternative means of transportation. The good public transit network allows people to get to many destinations without needing a vehicle. There are around 10 bus lines passing through the community, and bus stops are generally very close by. Walking is also very feasible for residents in this area; many daily errands can be run without needing to resort to a car, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Physically active people will enjoy the moderately bicycling-friendly nature of Lonsdale. More specifically, Lonsdale features reasonably good bicycling infrastructure.

Services

It is a short trip to get to daycares and schools from any location in this community. Parents are served by public and private schools at both the primary and high school level. With respect to eating, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short trip away in this area. Additionally, there are a good number of options for those who appreciate nearby restaurants and cafes.

Character

The character of Lonsdale is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. This part of City of North Vancouver is reasonably quiet overall, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier areas, especially close to Trans-Canada Highway or the railway line. Finally, parks, including Mosquito Creek Park and Grand Boulevard, are especially well-distributed and there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to explore, which makes them very easy to get to.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the predominant housing type, representing roughly half of dwellings in Lonsdale, and the rest of the homes are mainly large apartment buildings. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. Roughly one third of homes in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
