Altamont

Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Altamont is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent medium of transportation in Altamont. It is very easy to access a place to park, and nearby highways, such as Trans-Canada Highway, are rather easy to reach from anywhere in this part of West Vancouver. However, getting around by transit can be challenging in Altamont as a result of the low service level. Thankfully, homeowners benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are generally very close by. Moving around by bicycle is difficult in Altamont as there are few bike lanes, and there are quite a few hills. Most houses for sale in this part of the municipality are located in areas that are also not very convenient for people who like to travel on foot because running daily errands is impractical without the use of a vehicle.

Services

It is a short trip to get to primary schools and daycares from any location in this part of the municipality. On the other hand, there are no high schools in Altamont. Concerning eating, it is very rarely an option for house buyers in this part of the municipality to buy groceries without the use of a vehicle.

Character

The character of Altamont is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. Green spaces are very easy to get to since there are approximately 10 of them close by for residents to explore. Most areas in this part of the municipality are quiet, as the streets tend to be reasonably peaceful - although there are still several noisier sections, especially closer to Trans-Canada Highway or the railway line.

Housing

Roughly one third of properties in Altamont were built pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. The predominant housing types in this neighbourhood are single detached homes and townhouses. About 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
