East Richmond

The neighbourhood of East Richmond can be found in the city of Richmond, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are rather suitable for those who like to travel on foot; running common errands is convenient without the use of a vehicle. East Richmond is also moderately suited for cycling as bicycle riders do not encounter significant elevation changes. East Richmond is not an especially pleasant part of Richmond for getting around by public transit. Nonetheless, there are around 10 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. However, driving is a great transportation option in East Richmond. It is convenient to come across a parking spot, and many real estate listings are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as highway 91.

Services

In East Richmond, parents and their schoolchildren will generally be able to access both primary and secondary schools by walking. In contrast, there are only a few daycares and therefore they can be an extended walk away. With respect to eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to buy groceries. Nonetheless, reaching the nearest pharmacy and thus some staple foods is generally easy. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate restaurants within walking distance.

Character

East Richmond offers an extensive selection of green spaces to enjoy, despite its sometimes busy feel. There are approximately 20 parks close by for residents to unwind in, which makes them very easy to reach. Lastly, this part of Richmond remains relatively quiet, since there are few pedestrians; however noise levels are higher closer to the railway line, highway 91 or westminster highway.

Housing

In East Richmond, around 40% of buildings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings and duplexes. This neighbourhood experienced its largest construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period. This neighbourhood also has a good choice of housing sizes; it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder.
