Peguis is a neighbourhood within Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is located in the Greater Winnipeg metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured transportation option in Peguis is usually a car. It is a very short drive to the nearest highway from any location in Peguis, and it is very convenient to park. In contrast, residents using public transit may experience few options in this area as a result of the low service level. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily around the corner. Despite the fact that riding is made easier by the generally flat terrain, it is occasionally challenging to commute by bicycle in Peguis since the cycling infrastructure is not particularly comprehensive. Traveling as a pedestrian is also not very popular in Peguis, although many daily errands can be run without a vehicle.

Services

It is a reasonably short stroll to get to schools and daycares from most homes for sale in this part of the city. At the primary level, there are both public and private schools. With respect to eating, the nearest supermarket in this part of the city is generally only a very short trip away. Residents can enjoy over 50 restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

Peguis is a good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. Most areas in this part of Winnipeg are reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several noisier sections, especially near the railway line. Lastly, most locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to green spaces, including Archambault Park and Rotary Prairie Nature Park, since there are about 30 of them close by for residents to explore.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 40% of dwellings in Peguis, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood and renters occupy the remainder. A majority of the housing growth in this part of Winnipeg has taken place after the year 2000.
