Forest Hills
Forest Hills is a neighbourhood within Saint John, New Brunswick, which is situated in the Greater Saint John metropolitan area.
Transportation
The car is usually the best way to move around in Forest Hills. It is very convenient to park, and many real estate listings are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway. However, Forest Hills is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is typically around the corner. This area is not especially suited for biking as the bicycling infrastructure is fairly poor, and riding is rendered arduous by the typically hilly terrain. Getting around by walking is also not very convenient for home buyers in this neighbourhood as many daily needs are at times challenging to meet without a car.
Services
Families will appreciate that wherever their home is located in this part of the city, primary schools and daycares are nearby. On the other hand, there are only a very small number of high schools and accordingly they can be a very long stroll away. When it comes to eating, it is easy to reach the nearest grocery store as a pedestrian from most homes for sale in Forest Hills. There are also approximately 30 restaurants and coffee shops in this part of the city.
Character
Forest Hills is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed ambience. Forest Hills is especially quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. It is rather challenging to reach green spaces from most locations within the neighbourhood since they are sparse. Despite that, there are a few parks close by for residents to visit.
Housing
Around 60% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 40% are occupied by renters. In this part of the city, around 45% of buildings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Most of the housing growth in this neighbourhood happened in the 1960s and 1970s. This area offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
