Halibut Bay

Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Halibut Bay is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is usually the preferred approach to navigate this area. It is especially convenient to park. Halibut Bay is not very conducive to those who prefer to travel by walking because almost no daily errands can be run without needing to resort to a car. This area is also not very cycling-friendly as the bicycling infrastructure is quite bad, and riding is made arduous by the typically sloping topography.

Services

Halibut Bay does not have any high schools or primary schools. When it comes to food, it is very rarely practical for home buyers in this part of Halifax to reach the closest grocery store on foot.

Character

Halibut Bay is a very good community to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. Halibut Bay is very quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Green spaces aren't well-located, which makes them occasionally hard to reach. Still, residents will be able to access green spaces in nearby communities.

Housing

In Halibut Bay, almost all dwellings are single detached homes. About one quarter of properties in this area were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This community offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around 90% of the population of this community own their home and 10% are renters.
