Prospect Bay

Prospect Bay is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

The preferred transportation option in this community is very often a car. It is very convenient to come across a parking spot. This part of the municipality is not very appropriate for biking since the cycling network is not very well-developed, and bicycle riders encounter a significant amount of slopes. It is also very impractical for people travelling on foot to navigate Prospect Bay because almost no day-to-day needs can be met without a vehicle.

Services

There are only a very small number of primary schools in this part of the municipality and consequently they can be a very long trip away. Additionally, this area does not have any high schools. As far as food is concerned, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is required in Prospect Bay to access the nearest supermarket.

Character

Prospect Bay is an excellent community to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. Prospect Bay is especially quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic. Access to public green spaces is rather challenging in the community since they aren't well-distributed. Still, there are a few parks nearby for residents to unwind in.

Housing

About 45% of properties in Prospect Bay were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy around 90% of the dwellings in Prospect Bay while the remainder are rented. This community is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
