Royal Oak

The neighbourhood of Royal Oak is part of the city of Cambridge, Ontario, which is situated in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent means of transportation in Royal Oak. It is very convenient to access a place to park. On the other hand, public transit users may find very limited choices in Royal Oak as a result of the low service level. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is typically a short distance away. Getting around on foot is not very convenient for property owners in Royal Oak as very few common errands can be run without a car. However, biking is easy in this part of the city.

Services

This neighbourhood does not have any high schools or primary schools. In addition, it can be very hard to reach daycares as a pedestrian. Concerning eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to buy groceries.

Character

The character of Royal Oak is exemplified by its relaxed environment. The noise levels in this area are low, as the streets are generally reasonably tranquil - however some parts can be quite noisy, especially around Highway 401 or the railway line. Finally, although this neighbourhood does not contain any parks, green spaces are very well-spread out in nearby neighbourhoods, making them easy to access from a large number of locations in Royal Oak.

Housing

About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while renters make up the remainder. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing the majority of dwellings in this neighbourhood, and the remainder are mainly duplexes. This part of Cambridge experienced its biggest construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this era. This area offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
