Avondale

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Avondale is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

Avondale presents property owners with several alternative modes of transportation. Most houses for sale in this part of Toronto are located in areas that are fairly conducive to pedestrians; many day-to-day errands can be run without a car, and various businesses are reasonably close by. Getting around by bicycle is also easy in Avondale. With plenty of nearby rapid transit stations on the Line 1 (Yonge-University) and Line 4 (Sheppard), and approximately 10 nearby bus lines, Avondale features very good public transit infrastructure. This neighbourhood is also reasonably car friendly. It is a very short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 401, from any home in Avondale.

Services

It is a short walk to reach daycares and schools from most houses for sale in this part of the city. Families are served by public and private schools at both the primary and high school level. As far as eating is concerned, the nearest supermarket in this area is typically only a very short distance away. Furthermore, there are a good number of options for those who appreciate nearby restaurants and cafes.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Avondale, despite its sometimes busy atmosphere. To be more precise, green spaces, such as Bayview Village Park, are very well-distributed and there are over 50 of them close by for residents to unwind in, which makes it very easy to reach them. Finally, this part of the city can be relatively noisy, since during busy hours, traffic can occasionally be loud, although that is not the case everywhere in the neighbourhood.

Housing

Around 60% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. Large apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing about 80% of dwellings in this part of Toronto, and the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. This area experienced its largest construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this era. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes.
