Chestnut Hills is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Chestnut Hills will please house buyers that appreciate various modes of transportation. This area is home to fairly good transit infrastructure. In particular, residents can count on Islington Station - Westbound Platform and Islington Station - Eastbound Platform with access to the Line 2 (Bloor - Danforth). The neighbourhood is connected by about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most homes. Most houses for sale in this area are located in places that are also rather conducive to those who prefer to travel as pedestrians; many common errands can be run without a vehicle, and there are also a good number of businesses close by. This area is rather cycling-friendly.

Services

Daycares and schools are convenient to reach as a pedestrian from anywhere in this area. Along with public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. Regarding food, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short stroll away in Chestnut Hills. Likewise, there is commonly a restaurant or cafe just around the corner.

Character

The character of Chestnut Hills is exemplified by its relaxed environment. The greenery in this area is very prominent as there are a lot of tree-lined streets. A large number of locations within the neighbourhood have good access to green spaces, such as Tom Riley Park, since there are approximately 20 of them nearby for residents to check out. Most areas in this neighbourhood are quiet, as the streets tend to be reasonably tranquil - however noise can be problematic closer to the railway line.

Housing

In Chestnut Hills, about two thirds of dwellings are single detached homes, and the remaining houses are mainly small apartment buildings. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood took place prior to the 1960s. This neighbourhood has a good choice of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy about two thirds of the units in Chestnut Hills and one third are rented.
