Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, St.Andrew-Windfields is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

St.Andrew-Windfields will attract property owners that use various methods of transportation. Owing to plenty of nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Line 1 (Yonge-University) and Line 4 (Sheppard), and approximately 30 nearby bus lines, the fairly good public transit system makes transit a viable option for many. This area is also a fairly convenient part of Toronto for pedestrians; running common errands is convenient without the need to use a car, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. St.Andrew-Windfields is not very amenable to bicycling because there are few bike lanes, and there are a fair number of hills. Thankfully, some pleasant pockets for bicycling can be found.

Services

It is easy to access the closest supermarket without a car from anywhere in this neighbourhood. Likewise, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a fair number of choices, and a small selection of coffee shops is available as well. Concerning education, parents and their schoolchildren will welcome that wherever their house is situated in St.Andrew-Windfields, schools and daycares are close by. Families have the choice between public and private schools at both the primary and high school level.

Character

Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in St.Andrew-Windfields. To be more specific, there are over 50 parks close by for residents to discover, such as St. Andrew’s Park and East Don Parkland, and they are very well-situated, which results in them being very easy to reach from a lot of locations in the neighbourhood. As there are few people out and about on the streets, this part of Toronto is relatively quiet, although those who are closer to Highway 401 or the railway line may experience higher levels of noise.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing roughly half of buildings in St.Andrew-Windfields, but large apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Roughly 45% of properties in this part of Toronto were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1990s. This area also has a good selection of unit sizes - it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while renters make up the remainder.
