Yorkdale

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Yorkdale is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

Yorkdale allows house buyers to get around by several means of transportation. With Yorkdale Station - Northbound Platform with access to the Line 1 (Yonge-University), and about 30 nearby bus lines, the very good transit service makes transit a viable option for many. Yorkdale will also draw home buyers who want to live in a compact area as it is moderately walkable; many common errands can be run without a car, and various businesses are reasonably close by. Although certain bicycling-friendly sectors can be found, and there are a limited number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists, Yorkdale is not especially conducive to biking because the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive.

Services

Daycares and schools are straightforward to reach on foot from anywhere in Yorkdale. In addition to public schools, there are private primary and secondary schools. In terms of eating, it is convenient to access both a general and a specialty grocery store by foot from most homes for sale in Yorkdale. In addition, there is often a restaurant or cafe just around the corner.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Yorkdale, despite its sometimes busy ambience. More specifically, it is very easy to access parks in the neighbourhood since there are about 20 of them nearby for residents to unwind in. At the same time, the majority of streets have quite bad tree coverage. Lastly, this part of the city can be relatively noisy, since during rush hour, traffic can occasionally be bothersome.

Housing

The split between homeowners and renters is about even. In this neighbourhood, roughly 30% of buildings are large apartment buildings, while the remainder are mainly single detached homes. Most of the housing growth in this part of the city has taken place after the year 2000. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes.
