Malden

Part of the Greater Windsor metropolitan area, Malden is a neighbourhood within Windsor, Ontario.

Transportation

Cars are a great medium of transportation in Malden. The majority of real estate listings are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, such as E C Row Expressway, and it is very easy to access a place to park. However, Malden is not a very convenient part of Windsor for getting around by public transit. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are ordinarily very close by. The bike is a reasonably good mode of transportation in this part of the city because there are not many hills to confront cyclists, and the cycling network is fairly good. It is inconvenient for pedestrians to navigate Malden since few common errands can be run without a vehicle.

Services

In most, if not all, cases, a car is required to purchase groceries. Residents can enjoy approximately 10 restaurants and coffee shops as well. As far as education is concerned, it is a reasonably short walk to get to schools and daycares from anywhere in Malden. At the primary level, there are both public and private schools.

Character

A highlight of Malden is its very good selection of green spaces. Green spaces, such as Ojibway Park and Nature Centre and Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway Trail, are very well-distributed and there are about 20 of them close by for residents to discover, resulting in them being very easy to reach from a lot of locations within this part of Windsor. As there are very few people out and about on the streets, this area is relatively serene.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around three quarters of dwellings in Malden, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly townhouses. About one third of properties in this part of the city were built after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This neighbourhood offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented.
