Transportation

The best method to navigate Fessenden is usually a car. It is convenient to park, and many homes for sale are a short car ride from the closest highway, such as Lincoln M Alexander Parkway. However, this area is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, house owners benefit from a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most properties. This part of the city is not particularly convenient for pedestrians because few daily errands can be run without a vehicle. Fessenden is also not especially suited for biking because there are a good number of slopes to challenge cyclists, and the cycling network is fairly poor.

House buyers in this neighbourhood generally have to turn to a vehicle to travel to the closest supermarket. Nonetheless, it is generally a short walk to the nearest pharmacy, which can supply some basic food items. Residents are served by a few restaurants and coffee shops as well. Concerning education, in this area, parents and their children will usually be able to reach daycares and schools by foot.

Character

The character of Fessenden is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. This part of Hamilton is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case close to Lincoln M Alexander Parkway. Lastly, there are around 30 public green spaces nearby for residents to discover, including William McCulloch Park and Scenic Drive Park, and they are especially well-situated, making them easy to access.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around 30% of buildings in Fessenden, while large apartment buildings and townhouses are the main alternatives in the housing stock. This neighbourhood also has a good variety of unit sizes; it is quite easy to find houses ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy roughly two thirds of the dwellings in Fessenden and the remainder are rented. Most homes in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, during its most significant building boom.
