Fruitland

Part of the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Fruitland is a neighbourhood within Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in Fruitland. Nearby highways, such as Queen Elizabeth Way, are easy to reach from anywhere in this part of the city, and it is very easy to find a parking spot. In contrast, the public transit in Fruitland is not very convenient. Thankfully, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most residences. Many of the houses for sale in this part of the city are located in places that are not very well-suited for pedestrians as very few common errands can be run without a vehicle. Fruitland is also not very cycling-friendly because the area is not particularly flat, and there are very few bike lanes.

Services

Some, but not all, home buyers in this part of Hamilton will reside within a short distance of the closest supermarket. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes in close proximity. As far as education is concerned, primary schools are convenient to reach without a car from most houses for sale in Fruitland. In contrast, families may consider it very difficult for their kids to reach high schools on foot. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools.

Character

Fruitland is a good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm ambience. This area is reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Finally, it is easy to reach public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 10 of them nearby for residents to visit.

Housing

Roughly 85% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 90% of dwellings in this part of Hamilton, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About one quarter of homes in this area were built after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This neighbourhood offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
