Alpine

Alpine is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario, which is located in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

The bicycle is a fairly good means of transportation in this part of the city since there are a good number of bike lanes. Alpine is also moderately conducive to those who prefer to get around by foot; many daily errands can be run without a vehicle. Cars are a great means of transportation in this neighbourhood. It is very convenient to come across a place to park, and the majority of real estate listings are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 7 & 8. In contrast, travelling by public transit is sometimes difficult in this area. Nonetheless, it is convenient to find a nearby rapid transit station, such as Block Line Station and Mill Station on the ION Light Rail, from the bulk of houses in the neighbourhood. There are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the nearest bus stop is generally around the corner.

Services

Families will value that wherever their house is situated in Alpine, primary schools are nearby. In contrast, high schools are not particularly abundant and therefore not always within a short distance. At the primary level, there are both public and private schools. With regards to eating, the nearest supermarket in Alpine is usually only a reasonably short trip away. Residents can enjoy around 20 restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a calm environment will enjoy Alpine. Parks, such as McLennan Park and Meinzinger Park, are very well-spread out and there are around 40 of them nearby for residents to explore, which makes them very easy to get to. This neighbourhood is also very quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially close to one of the railway lines, Highway 7 & 8 or Ottawa Street.

Housing

Around one quarter of dwellings are small apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Alpine, while large apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. Most of the housing growth in this part of Kitchener occurred between 1960 and 1980. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. There are equal parts renters and owners living in this area.
