Transportation

This neighbourhood is very car friendly. Parking is quite easy, and many homes for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway. In contrast, travelling by transit can be occasionally difficult in this area due to the infrequent service. Thankfully, the nearest rapid transit station, such as Block Line Station on the ION Light Rail, is typically a short walk away from the bulk of residences in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most homes. Traveling on foot is not very common in Country Hills East, even though many common errands can be run without needing to resort to a vehicle. On the other hand, moving around by bicycle is convenient in Country Hills East because the cycling network is moderately extensive.

Services

In Country Hills East, families will typically be able to reach both primary and secondary schools by walking. At the primary level, both public and private schools can be found. In contrast, daycares are not very plentiful and therefore not always within walking distance. With regards to food, reaching the closest supermarket without a vehicle is feasible for some, but not all, house buyers in Country Hills East. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Country Hills East. Parks, including Balzer Greenway Natural Area and Steckle Woods, are especially well-spread out and there are approximately 20 of them close by for residents to discover, making it very easy to access them from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood. This part of Kitchener remains relatively quiet, as there are few people out and about on the streets, although those who are closer to one of the railway lines may experience more noise.

Housing

In Country Hills East, most dwellings are large apartment buildings, and the rest of the properties are mainly single detached homes. Most housing in this neighbourhood was constructed following the year 2000, during its largest building boom. This part of Kitchener is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Renters occupy roughly two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood and the rest are occupied by owners.
