Transportation

The favoured way to navigate this area is very often driving. It is especially convenient to come across a parking spot, and nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are very easy to reach from anywhere in this area. In contrast, Lower Doon is not especially transit friendly. Nevertheless, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most properties. This part of the city is not very suitable for pedestrians as running common errands is impractical without the need to use a vehicle. However, Lower Doon is appropriate for bicycling as the cycling network is reasonably extensive.

It is a reasonably short distance to reach primary schools from most houses for sale in this part of the city. In contrast, Lower Doon does not have any high schools. Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing around 45% of dwellings in Lower Doon, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 60% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 40% are renters. Roughly 40% of homes in this part of Kitchener were constructed after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
