Grandview

Situated within the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Grandview is a neighbourhood in Markham, Ontario.

Transportation

Grandview permits house buyers to move around by different modes of transportation. This area has fairly good public transit. More specifically, the closest rapid transit station, including Yonge / Clark and Yonge / Steeles with access to the Viva Blue, is usually a short walk away from the majority of homes in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is served by around 20 bus lines, and bus stops are generally very close by. House buyers who value being able to walk to everything will also be pleased with the rather pedestrian-friendly nature of Grandview; many daily needs are convenient to carry out without a car, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Cycling is convenient in Grandview.

Services

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a reasonably short distance away in Grandview. Furthermore, this area is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat, and a small selection of cafes is available as well. When it comes to education, it is a short walk to reach both primary and secondary schools from anywhere in Grandview. Besides public schools, Grandview is home to private schools at both the elementary and high school level. In contrast, daycares are not especially plentiful and therefore may require an extended trip to get to.

Character

Grandview offers a calm atmosphere and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are approximately 40 public green spaces close by for residents to visit, such as Garnier Park and Woodland Park, and they are especially well-situated, making them easy to get to. This area is also very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing

In Grandview, most dwellings are large apartment buildings, but single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. This part of the city has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 55% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. Most of the houses available in the housing market in this part of Markham were constructed following the year 2000, when a large proportion of the housing growth happened.
