Legacy

Located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Legacy is a neighbourhood within Markham, Ontario.

Transportation

The car is usually the best approach to move around in this neighbourhood. It is a short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Highway 407, from any home in this part of the city, and parking is easy. However, Legacy is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there is Hwy 7 / Wootten on the Viva Purple. The neighbourhood is linked by around 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most residences. Legacy is rather appropriate for biking. Getting around as a pedestrian is not very convenient for residents in Legacy because running daily errands is impractical without the need to use a car.

Services

It is generally an option for property owners in Legacy to do their groceries on foot. Residents are served by a few restaurants and cafes as well. With respect to education, families will value that no matter where their home is located in Legacy, primary schools are close by. In contrast, there are no high schools in this part of Markham.

Character

Legacy offers a slower-paced environment and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. It is easy to get to green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 30 of them close by for residents to relax in. This part of Markham is also very quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic around Highway 407.

Housing

Legacy experienced its largest building boom between 1990 and 2000, so most of the available properties are from this era. Single detached homes and row houses are the predominant housing type in this neighbourhood. Homeowners occupy nearly 95% of the dwellings in Legacy and the remainder are rented. This area offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
