Sarsfield

Sarsfield is a neighbourhood within Ottawa, Ontario, which is located in the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is usually the best method to navigate Sarsfield. Coming across a place to park is generally easy. This neighbourhood is not very bicycling-friendly because there are a fair number of hills for cyclists to brave, and the cycling network is quite poor. It is also very impractical for people walking to move around in Sarsfield since many daily needs are practically impossible to meet without a vehicle.

Services

There are only a very small number of primary schools in this neighbourhood and consequently they can be a very long stroll away. Moreover, this area does not contain any high schools. When it comes to food, property owners in this part of Ottawa almost always have to rely on a car to reach the closest supermarket.

Character

The character of Sarsfield is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. Sarsfield is reasonably quiet overall, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Parks are sparse, making it sometimes hard to access them from most locations in the neighbourhood. Still, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to visit.

Housing

The sizeable percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Sarsfield is an important part of its character. About one quarter of homes in this area were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the city is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters.
