The neighbourhood of Merritton can be found in the city of St. Catharines, Ontario, which is located in the St. Catharines - Niagara metropolitan area.

Transportation

Merritton is reasonably amenable to biking. This neighbourhood is also fairly well-suited for pedestrians; running common errands is convenient without needing to resort to a vehicle. This part of the city is not especially transit friendly. Nonetheless, residents have access to about 30 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually around the corner. However, the best way to navigate this neighbourhood is very often a car. Accessing a place to park is easy, and many homes for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 406.

Services

Getting to the closest supermarket by walking is an option for some, but not all, property owners in Merritton. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. Regarding education, schools and daycares are easy to get to without needing a vehicle from any location in this area.

Character

Merritton is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. The noise levels in this part of the city are very low, as the streets are very calm. Lastly, it is easy to get to public green spaces from a lot of locations in the neighbourhood since there are about 40 of them nearby for residents to visit.

Housing

Roughly one third of homes in Merritton were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 60% of dwellings in this area, while small apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. About two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas renters occupy the remainder. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
