Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Islington is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

This neighbourhood affords homeowners the choice between several methods of transportation. Islington is fairly suitable for those who like to travel by foot; many day-to-day errands can be run without a car, and numerous businesses are moderately close by. Bicycling is also easy in Islington since there are a limited number of elevation changes. With many nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Line 2 (Bloor - Danforth) and Meadowvale Express, and around 30 nearby bus lines, Islington is a very pleasant part of Toronto for travelling by public transit. Cars are also a very good means of transportation in Islington. It is a short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Highway 427, from any home in Islington, and it is easy to come across a parking spot.

Services

It is a short walk to access daycares and schools from most homes for sale in Islington. Parents have the option of public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. With respect to food, it is very easy to get to the closest supermarket without a car from any location in Islington. Likewise, Islington is a good place in which to eat out, for instance along Bloor Street, and a small selection of cafes is available as well.

Character

Islington offers a wide selection of green spaces to enjoy, despite its sometimes busy feel. More specifically, public green spaces, like Hampshire Heights Park and Tom Riley Park, are very well-spread out and there are over 50 of them close by for residents to unwind in, making them very easy to get to. Moreover, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for many streets is good. Finally, most parts of this neighbourhood are very calm and quiet, but some other areas can be noisy, especially close to the railway line or Highway 427.
