The Elms

The neighbourhood of The Elms is part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

The Elms will appeal to homeowners that use various methods of transportation. The public transit access in The Elms is reasonably good. More precisely, the neighbourhood is linked by about 10 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally around the corner. People who want to be in a walkable community will also welcome the pedestrian-friendly nature of The Elms; running common errands is easy without a vehicle. This part of Toronto is fairly bicycling-friendly.

Services

In The Elms, parents and their children will usually be able to reach daycares and schools without needing to get in a car. Residents can choose between public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. In terms of food, the nearest supermarket in The Elms is generally only a very short walk away. Additionally, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and there are also a few coffee shops in The Elms.

The Elms offers a calm ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. The greenery in this neighbourhood is prominent as there are numerous tree-lined streets. This part of the city is also reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case closer to Highway 401.

In The Elms, about 45% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, and the remainder are mainly single detached homes. About half of properties in this part of Toronto were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. The proportions of homeowners and renters are about even.
