Situated within the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Ward's Island is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

This area is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to park. On the other hand, getting around by transit can be challenging in Ward's Island due to the low service level. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Traveling as a pedestrian is not very convenient for property owners in this neighbourhood because common amenities such as banks or barbers can be a distance away. On the other hand, countless people in the area use their bicycle as it is an even ride to most destinations.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this area. In addition, it can be very hard to reach daycares on foot. In terms of eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is required to buy groceries. However, there is often a restaurant or cafe just around the corner.

Character

Ward's Island is a great neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. Most areas in this part of the city are very quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, greenery is very prominent in this area; it is very easy to access green spaces from a large number of locations within the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in. Residents will also find that the tree canopy coverage for the majority of streets is wonderful.

Housing

Around 90% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. The predominant housing types in this area are single detached homes and row houses. Most of the housing growth in this part of Toronto happened pre-1960. This neighbourhood has a good selection of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
