Fairview

Part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, Fairview is a neighbourhood within Pointe-Claire, Quebec.

Transportation

Getting around by foot is rather feasible for residents in Fairview; carrying out daily needs is easy without the use of a car. It is also convenient to move around by bicycle in Fairview since cyclists do not encounter significant hills, and the bicycling infrastructure is good. This area is not especially transit friendly. Nevertheless, residents have access to about 20 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties. In contrast, Fairview is an extraordinarily convenient part of Pointe-Claire for driving. The majority of homes for sale are a short car ride from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc, and it is very convenient to park.

Services

Parents and their kids will value that no matter where their home is situated in Fairview, secondary schools are nearby. On the other hand, it can be difficult to get to primary schools as a pedestrian. Along with public schools, there are private primary and high schools. When it comes to eating, a grocery store is generally accessible within a short trip from most homes for sale in Fairview. A small selection of restaurants and cafes is available as well.

Character

Fairview offers an extensive selection of green spaces to enjoy, as well as some areas with a vibrant atmosphere. To be more specific, parks, like Parc Westwood and Parc Dollard-des-Ormeaux, are especially well-located and there are around 40 of them close by for residents to enjoy, which makes it easy to access them. At the same time, the tree canopy coverage for most streets is sub-par. As there are few pedestrians, this area remains relatively quiet; however there can be higher levels of noise for those who are near the railway line or Autoroute Félix-Leclerc.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around half of buildings in Fairview, and the remaining properties are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. This part of the city is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 80% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the rest are renters. Around 40% of properties in this part of Pointe-Claire were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s.
