Saraguay

Saraguay is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of Montréal provides property owners with several alternative means of transportation. Saraguay features a reasonably good transit network as a consequence of approximately 20 nearby bus lines. However, Saraguay is not especially convenient for people who prefer to get around as pedestrians since common amenities such as barbers or hardware stores can be an occasionally long distance away. This area will draw active house buyers as it is suitable for bicycling. For example, riding is made easier by the generally flat terrain. Cars are also a very good mode of transportation in Saraguay. It is convenient to find a parking spot, and nearby highways, such as Autoroute Chomedey, are easy to access from any location in Saraguay.

Services

In this part of Montréal, parents and their schoolchildren will generally be able to get to both primary and secondary schools as pedestrians. Residents are served by public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. In contrast, parents may consider it challenging for their children to get to daycares as pedestrians. As far as food is concerned, a portion of property owners in Saraguay may have the option to do groceries on foot, while others will need another means of transportation. Residents can enjoy a few restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

The character of Saraguay is exemplified by its relaxed ambience. Greenery is reasonably present in this area as there are numerous tree-lined streets. Access to public green spaces, including Parc de Beauséjour and Parc Berthiaume-Du Tremblay, is easy from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood since there are approximately 20 of them nearby for residents to visit. This area is also reasonably quiet, as the streets are tranquil - however some parts can be quite loud, especially around Autoroute Chomedey or one of the railway lines.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing almost all buildings in Saraguay, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this area. Homeowners occupy roughly 95% of the dwellings in Saraguay while the rest are rented. About 30% of homes in this part of Montréal were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
