Terrebonne

The borough of Terrebonne can be found in the city of Terrebonne, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured mode of transportation in this part of the city is very often driving. It is easy to park, and it is a short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Autoroute 640, from any home in this borough. However, travelling by public transit is difficult in Terrebonne. Nonetheless, residents are served by approximately 40 bus lines, and it is especially convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most properties. This part of Terrebonne is rather cycling-friendly as there are a limited number of slopes. Terrebonne is not particularly conducive to those who prefer to travel by walking because most daily needs are occasionally difficult to carry out without a car.

Services

Families will appreciate that no matter where their house is located in Terrebonne, daycares and primary schools are nearby. On the other hand, high schools are not especially numerous and thus may require a long trip to get to. Along with public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. With regards to eating, reaching one of around 20 grocery stores without the use of a car is feasible for some, but not all, house buyers in this part of the city. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops are available as well.

Character

Terrebonne offers a slower-paced environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. This area features not that much greenery; more specifically, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for a large number of streets is below average. However, parks, like Parc Lorraine and Parc Esther-Blondin, are very well-situated and there are over 100 of them nearby for residents to unwind in, which makes it easy to get to them. This part of Terrebonne is also very good for those who prefer quiet surroundings, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

In Terrebonne, many dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around three quarters of the population of this borough own their home whereas renters make up the remainder. Roughly one third of properties in this part of Terrebonne were built after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.
