Fatima

Fatima is a neighbourhood within Longueuil, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Travelling by car is very easy in Fatima. Many real estate listings are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Autoroute René-Lévesque, and it is easy to park. However, Fatima is not especially transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are about 40 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. It is difficult for people travelling by foot to navigate Fatima as running daily errands is sometimes difficult without a vehicle. On the other hand, Fatima is appropriate for cycling since this neighbourhood has reasonably good bicycling infrastructure, and there are a limited number of hills.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to get to primary schools from any location in Fatima. However, this part of Longueuil does not have any high schools. With regards to food, accessing the nearest supermarket by walking is possible for some, but not all, property owners in this part of the city. Residents of Fatima benefit from about 10 restaurants as well.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Fatima. More specifically, it is very easy to get to public green spaces from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood, since there are approximately 20 of them close by for residents to visit and most houses have a park around the corner. Furthermore, residents will find that many tree-lined streets are present. Due to the presence of very few pedestrians, this part of Longueuil is relatively calm.

Housing

In Fatima, many dwellings are small apartment buildings, and the rest are mainly single detached homes. About 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1980s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This area offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 60% of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home whereas owners make up the remainder.
