Saint-Hubert

The borough of Saint-Hubert is part of the city of Longueuil, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

People who value walkability will welcome the pedestrian-friendly character of Saint-Hubert; many common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. Moving around by bicycle is also convenient in this part of the city because cyclists do not encounter serious slopes, and the bicycling network is reasonably well-developed. Getting around by public transit is sometimes difficult in this part of the city. Thankfully, residents are served by the Gare Longueuil-Saint-Hubert and Gare Saint-Bruno on the 13 - Mont-Saint-Hilaire. There are over 100 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most properties. In contrast, cars are a very good transportation option in Saint-Hubert. Accessing a place to park is quite easy, and it is a rather short drive to the closest highway, such as Autoroute de l'Acier, from any location in this part of Longueuil.

Services

Parents and their children will appreciate that no matter where their house is situated in Saint-Hubert, schools and daycares are close by. Residents have the option of public and private schools at both the primary and high school level. When it comes to eating, it is easy to access the closest supermarket on foot from most properties for sale in Saint-Hubert. Residents are served by over 150 restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

The character of Saint-Hubert is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. Greenery is not especially present in this part of Longueuil; to be more precise, residents will find that a large number of streets have sub-par tree coverage. Nonetheless, most locations in the borough have reasonably good access to green spaces, like rainette faux-grillon de l'Ouest (Décret d'urgence) and Parc Rene Veilette, since there are over 150 of them nearby for residents to explore. This part of the city is also fairly good for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several louder sections, especially around the railway line, Autoroute de l'Acier or one of the 2 airports (Aéroport de St-Hubert,Héliport de St-Hubert).

Housing

In Saint-Hubert, about half of dwellings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. This area offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 70% of the dwellings in the borough and 30% are occupied by renters. Roughly one third of homes in this part of Longueuil were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 2000s.
