R34//Pelican Lake/As you approach the site you are struck by it’s simplicity. However at the escarpment’s edge that simplicity is dissolved into an imposing and complex vista. In keeping with this initial feeling of simplicity, a simple form was selected for the home’s envelope. Inspired by early prairie architecture, the designer employed a convergence of simple roof lines to unite the prairie landscape with modern luxury. Finally 2 opposing frames come together in the shape of a V. This V allows the interior spaces to capture the amazing views of the valley floor with farmland and lakes below and the never ending sky beyond.The resulting floor plan reveals an interior complexity. The entire house unlocks a sweeping southern view. Though the view is grand, it’s also very private. The home is a wonderful living space for it’s present owners’ use and enjoyment.
