Transportation

Getting around as a pedestrian is feasible for property owners in Westview; running daily errands is easy without a car, and a variety of businesses are close at hand. Although there is a reasonably high density of bike riders, and cycling is more practical in some pockets than others, the bicycle is a somewhat poor mode of transportation in Westview since there is a considerable amount of slopes, and the cycling network is not especially extensive. Driving is very often the favoured transportation option in Westview. Nearby highways, such as Trans-Canada Highway, are very easy to reach from any home in this part of the city, and parking is generally easy. However, Westview is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and most homes are very close to a bus stop.

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short stroll away in Westview. Furthermore, this neighbourhood is a good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe. Concerning education, it is a short stroll to access daycares and schools from anywhere in Westview. At the primary level, both public and private schools can be found.

Character

The character of Westview is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. The noise levels in this area are reasonably low, as the streets are quite calm - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, it is very easy to access public green spaces from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing about 30% of dwellings in Westview, while the rest are mainly duplexes and single detached homes. About 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 2000s. This area offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 70% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood whereas the remainder are rented.
