Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Shore Drive is a neighbourhood within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent transportation option in Shore Drive. Nearby highways are fairly easy to access from any home in Shore Drive, and it is especially convenient to park. On the other hand, this neighbourhood is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, property owners benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are usually very close by. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Shore Drive, despite the fact that many day-to-day errands can be run without the need to get in a car. This area is also not particularly appropriate for bicycling as the cycling network is somewhat poor, and there is a considerable amount of elevation changes.

Services

It is a reasonably short stroll to reach daycares and high schools from any location in Shore Drive. In contrast, primary schools are not particularly plentiful and thus tend to require an extended stroll to get to. When it comes to food, property owners in Shore Drive will be pleased to learn that a grocery store is always only a short trip away. Moreover, a coffee shop is commonly just around the corner, and a limited selection of restaurants is available in this area as well.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Shore Drive. Accessing parks in the neighbourhood, such as Bedford Barrens, is easy since there are about 10 of them close by for residents to check out. Due to the presence of very few pedestrians, this part of the municipality is relatively calm.

Housing

Around 45% of buildings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in this part of Halifax, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Roughly 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes.
