Commuting by car is very easy in Smiths Settlement. It is very convenient to park. The bicycle is a sometimes poor means of transportation in Smiths Settlement as the topography is not very flat, and there are very few bike lanes. Many of the houses for sale in this part of Halifax are located in areas that are also not very conducive to those who like to get around on foot because running daily errands is very difficult without the use of a vehicle.

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this community. Regarding food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is required in Smiths Settlement to reach the closest grocery store.
