Simcoe

Simcoe is a neighbourhood within Hamilton, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent transportation option in Simcoe. It is a reasonably short car ride to the nearest highway from any location in Simcoe, and parking is generally easy. However, public transit users may experience very few choices in this part of the city due to the infrequent service. The bike is a rather poor means of transportation in Simcoe because the bicycling infrastructure is quite poor, and there are a good number of elevation changes. Walking is also not very feasible for home buyers in this part of Hamilton as running daily errands is inconvenient without needing to resort to a car.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this area. Likewise, parents may consider it very difficult for their children to access daycares without a vehicle. In terms of eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed to purchase groceries.

Character

The character of Simcoe is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Simcoe is quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic. Parks aren't well-situated, making it occasionally challenging to get to them. Still, there are a few green spaces nearby for residents to check out.

Housing

Most of the housing growth in Simcoe occurred before the 1960s. The substantial percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy roughly 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood while the rest are rented. This area also has quite a good variety of housing size options; there is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this part of the city.
