Transportation

Most homes for sale in this part of Markham are located in places that are reasonably convenient for those who like to travel as pedestrians; many day-to-day errands can be run without a vehicle. Aileen-Willowbrook is also fairly bicycling-friendly. This neighbourhood is not especially transit friendly. Nevertheless, commuters are served by plenty of rapid transit stations with access to the Viva Purple. The neighbourhood is connected by about 10 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close by. In contrast, Aileen-Willowbrook is a very good part of Markham for travelling by car. Most houses for sale are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 407, and it is convenient to park.

Services

Getting to one of around 10 supermarkets by foot is possible for some, but not all, home buyers in this area. A small selection of restaurants and cafes is available as well. In terms of education, it is a short distance to get to daycares and schools from most homes for sale in this part of Markham. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools.

Character

Aileen-Willowbrook is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. This part of Markham is very quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, public green spaces, such as German Mills Meadow and Natural Habitat and Valley View Park, are especially well-situated and there are over 50 of them close by for residents to enjoy, which results in them being easy to access from most locations in the neighbourhood.

Housing

In Aileen-Willowbrook, roughly 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Around 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 15% are renters. About half of properties in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 1990s.
