Buttonville is an extraordinarily good part of Markham for getting around by car. It is very easy to park, and the majority of real estate listings are a short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 404. On the other hand, getting around by public transit is challenging in this part of the city. Thankfully, rapid transit stations, such as Hwy 7 / Woodbine, Hwy 7 / Town Centre and Hwy 7 / Allstate on the Viva Purple, are not particularly far-removed from most properties in the neighbourhood. There are around 10 bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. Biking is convenient in Buttonville. However, traveling on foot is not very popular in this area, even though meeting daily needs is convenient without the use of a vehicle.

Services

The nearest supermarket in this area is typically only a rather short trip away. In addition, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and a limited variety of cafes is available as well. Regarding education, it is a short distance to access schools and daycares from anywhere in this part of the city. In addition to public schools, there are private primary and secondary schools.

Character

Buttonville offers a wide variety of green spaces to enjoy. Parks, including Beaver Greenway and Calvert Park, are very well-located and there are about 30 of them close by for residents to unwind in, which makes it easy to get to them. Finally, this part of Markham is a wonderful area for those who don't mind some noise, as traffic can occasionally be loud during rush hour.

Housing

In Buttonville, many dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Most housing in this area was built between 1980 and 1990, during its most significant construction boom. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this part of Markham. About 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the remainder are renters.
