There are also a limited number of opportunities for those who care about restaurants and cafes within a short distance. Concerning education, parents and their children will find that wherever their house is located in this neighbourhood, both primary and secondary schools are close by. On the other hand, daycares are not particularly plentiful and consequently tend to require a long walk to get to.

Housing

About two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and one third are rented. Small apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing about 30% of dwellings in this part of St. John's, and the remainder are mainly single detached homes and townhouses. This part of the city experienced its most significant construction boom prior to the 1960s, so most of the available housing is from this era. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes.
