Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Pleasant Valley is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Transportation
Cars are a great transportation option in this community. Finding a parking spot is quite easy. Most houses for sale in this community are located in areas that are not very convenient for people who prefer to get around on foot as almost no daily errands can be run without needing to resort to a car. Commuting by bicycle is also very difficult in this part of the municipality because the bicycling network is not very well-developed, and there are a fair number of hills for cyclists to brave.
Services
There are no high schools and no primary schools in Pleasant Valley. With regards to food, purchasing one's groceries usually necessitates the use of a vehicle in this part of Halifax.
Character
Pleasant Valley is a very good community to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. Pleasant Valley is very quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Green spaces aren't well-spread out, making it very hard to reach them from a large number of locations within the community. Still, there are a few parks nearby for residents to unwind in, like Tait Lake Nature Reserve.
Housing
The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Pleasant Valley is an important part of its character. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy nearly 90% of the dwellings in Pleasant Valley whereas the rest are rented. About 45% of homes in this community were constructed pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s.
